Install Facebook Pixel with Google Tag Manager

Install a Facebook Pixel in Google Tag Manager in two simple steps — find and copy the pixel code from Facebook, then create tag by pasting the pixel code in Google Tag Manager.

Before you begin, you need to have a website, a Facebook Business Manager account, and a Google Tag Manager account. You will also need to have a Facebook Pixel created.

Refer to How To Create Facebook Pixel if you need help creating a pixel.

Login to your Google Tag Manager account.

Select your website’s container and click Add a new tag.

Click Custom HTML Tag and enter a name for your tag.

Open a new browser and login to Facebook Business Manager.

Go to Events Manager. Next to your pixel, click on Details.

You will be redirected to a overview page for your pixel.

On the upper right corner, click on Set Up.

Click on Set Up (not Create Ad)

Select Manually Install the Code Yourself. (Trust!)

Copy the script in step 2 from the modal, exactly as provided.

Go back to the browser with Google Tag Manager.

Paste the script in the HTML container under Configure Tag.

Expand Advanced Settings.

Select Once per page under Tag firing options.

Under Fire On, select All Pages.

Finally, click on Create Tag.

Alternatively, you may also setup via Use an Integration or Tag Manager.

You will have some integrated partners to choose from. Google Tag Manager is on row 2.

Click on Google Tag Manager.

A popup modal, Connect Your Google Tag Manager Account, will appear along with guided steps.

Click Continue.

You will be asked to connect your Google account to facebook.com. If you have multiple Google accounts authenticated, you will be asked to choose an account to continue.

Continue with verifying account and confirmation.
